Bless Our City

As we approach Easter, we invite you to participate in our Bless Our City Mission Offering, with a goal of $150,000 to support nine local ministries in Kansas City. These ministries address critical needs like homelessness, refugee support, foster care, and more. Your generosity will directly empower organizations such as Elevate Metro KC, The Hope Center, Gracious Promise, and others as they serve with love and compassion. Every dollar you give will help bless and encourage their vital work in our community. Join us in being the light of Christ and blessing our city this Easter!

RESTORE Commitment.

As you can imagine, over time our church facilities experience natural wear, tear, and aging. Our hope and desire is to be a Church that proclaims Jesus and Restores hearts, with physical spaces that are safe, warm and welcoming to our friends, neighbors, and church family. Colonial’s Session, pastors, and staff have prayerfully discerned that it is time to Restore many of our spaces. Acts 15:12-18 includes “...After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who bear my name...” We have identified over 20 projects of needed renovation, restoration, and upgrades to enhance the overall Sunday morning experience, strengthen our ministries, and update our décor, safety, and security. Giving FAQs

Commonly asked questions regarding giving.

We take very seriously the challenge to manage the blessings that God has bestowed on the church through the generosity of His faithful followers. It is important to us that you have confidence in Colonial’s stewardship, so that you may give confidently to support the Ministry and Mission of Colonial.

· The Session and Finance Elder, elected by the Congregation, oversee the financial operations of the church.

· Financial reports reflecting the contributions and spending are reviewed by the finance committee monthly and reviewed and approved by Session on a quarterly basis.

· Session has adopted a Fiscal Policy which governs expenditure approval levels and authority for financial decisions

· Each year the books of the church are reviewed by an outside CPA firm who issues a report to Session, independent of church staff.

· Colonial’s annual Ministry Operations Budget is reviewed and approved by Session.

The Executive Team prepares a budget to guide the operations of the church each year. The budget is initially approved by the Finance Committee and then presented to and approved by Session. A brief overview of the budget is presented at the annual congregational meeting by the Finance Elder. We believe that making an intentional, purposeful financial commitment is an important part of discipleship. We encourage our members to see this as a response to God’s blessing, reflecting trust in God’s future provision. Each year, your Generosity Team will ask members to make commitments for their giving to the Ministry Operating Fund for the calendar year. You can monitor progress through your Colonial Community Church Builder (CCB) account HERE , or through periodic mailed statements. If unforeseen circumstances arise you can adjust your pledge at any time.

Colonial believes in a unified budget and includes in our Ministry Operating budget the funds required to support numerous missionaries and ministries outside the walls of the church. The first 10% of each week’s offering is set aside and dedicated to this purpose. So, the best way to support the Missions work of Colonial is with regular contributions to the Ministry Operating Fund. In addition, Colonial has three special Missions offering opportunities a year, Bless Our City during Easter, Be the Light in the fall, and Walk to the Manger during the advent season.

Ultimately, Session and the Finance Elder are accountable for how church funds are spent. They approve the annual budget and review financial results as well as the annual report provided by an independent CPA. In addition, there is a Finance Committee, appointed by Session to help guide financial decisions. Colonial provides multiple avenues for you to make a financial gift:
- Check or Cash, may be placed in the black offering box located at the back of the sanctuary or by mailing to 9500 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64114
- Online, colonialkc.org/give where you can make a gift through a bank draft, debit card, or credit card. You may also establish recurring gifts. Pushpay, our online giving platform, is very secure.
- Mobile, You give give via Text to either “colonialskc” or “colonialop” to 833-805-8719
- Stocks or Investment, donating appreciated stock or investments can provide you tax advantages. For information on making a stock or investment donation please contact our Administrative Coordinator, Gayle Anderson at ganderson@colonialkc.org or 816-501-3042.

Yes, transferring appreciated investments can provide some tax advantages. Colonial has a Charles Schwab investment account to receive donated securities. Another common avenue is to give to Colonial through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), which can be established at a financial institution such as The Signatry or the National Christian Foundation. To assist with a stock or mutual fund investment contribution, please contact our Administrative Coordinator, Gayle Anderson, ganderson@colonialkc.org or 816-501-3042.
